Australian Economy - Why So Successful?

Greebles
I hear that ordinary working folks in Australia can make $20 - $25 an hour. They seem to be doing very well from the resources boom in Asia (China, India, Vietnam etc)

What's the real story behind their success? Their dollar's stronger than ours!

It's their resources, as you say. They are selling them at a premium and have strong fiscal control. Their interest rates are a lot higher and there's a lot of carry trade there too.

Read this article from Australia about price "gouging". The cost of consumer goods has skyrocketed in Australia in recent years.

It looks like the baby boomers who control retail and the pension funds that own retail are fucking young Australians in the cornhole with these kinds of prices. The relative rate of earnings compared to here doesn't seem to be enough for these prices to make sense, if you read the comments. They need to do something about this.

Boomers fucking it up for everyone else yet again.
